Recycle | Reuse | Repower

“JinkoSolar has always been keen to ensure that its modules are clean and eco friendly from cradle to grave.”
– Nigel Cockroft, General Manager of JinkoSolar (U.S.) Inc.

our commitment to sustainability
JinkoSolar is deeply committed to its environmental responsibilities as a global corporate citizen. Our desire and commitment to sustainable development led us to join the RE100, EP100 initiatives, and the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC). In fact, Jinko was the first PV player to join the RE100. Additionally, we have taken another major step – we became the first PV company to have its net zero goals approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), committing to achieving “net zero emissions” of GHG in the value chain by 2050.

JinkoSolar has focused heavily on creating modules with low carbon footprints (“CFP”), evidenced by our module CFP certifications completed by Certisolis. JinkoSolar has also been working on the recyclability of our modules by optimizing the use of non-toxic recyclable inputs. In fact, our modules have undergone TCLP testing and ranked #1 of 35 in the Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition (SVTC) Solar Scorecard.

A HISTORY OF RECYCLING
Recycling is in JinkoSolar’s DNA. JinkoSolar’s founding began with an innovative approach to recycling and utilizing what the industry saw as waste, the edge shavings of ingots from the wafering process. JinkoSolar was able to recycle the shavings into new ingots, saving both money and raw materials.
JinkoSolar has continued to lead in recycling R&D and initiatives, starting with the design of solar modules for recyclability. In Europe, in 2011, JinkoSolar joined the PV Cycle recycling network and association. In 2016, JinkoSolar and a small number of Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) members co-launched the first PV recycling program in the U.S.

In 2023, JinkoSolar launched its own recycling plant in Asia. The high-value environmentally friendly recycling treatment route developed by JinkoSolar, not only allows the dismantling and recycling of aluminum frames, junction boxes, and glass, but also recycles silicon and metals in solar cells. By deeply exploring the value of product recycling and reuse, JinkoSolar raises the recovery rate of some materials up to 99%.
RECYCLING INITIATIVE | EAGLE® PRESERVE
Now, JinkoSolar is publicly launching its program for End of Life (EOL) modules, EAGLE® Preserve. JinkoSolar already has a track record of recycling modules in the U.S. and now seeks to provide downstream customers with a simple stewardship program to recycle EOL panels. The program includes take-back services, so customers have a turnkey recycling solutions provider.

Whether solar project owners are looking to repower their projects, look for new uses for old modules, or simply recycle EOL modules, EAGLE® Preserve can help. For projects with repowering needs, going through EAGLE® Preserve often means faster path to replacement modules.
