THIRD-PARTY TESTING

We test at many third-party labs including PVEL in Berkeley and RETC in Fremont, California. Notably, we scored as an Overall Highest Achiever in RETC’s PV Module Index Report four consecutive times, and are one of only three manufacturers globally listed as Top Performer nine consecutive times in the PVEL PV Module Reliability Scorecard.

thick backsheet
Our modules are Fire Type 1 rated, resulting in thicker backsheets and far fewer failures. Other manufacturers’ backsheet failures range from 26% to 71% before end of warranty
Advantages of a thick backsheet
• Helps bifacial modules run cooler with a lower temperature coefficient.
• Offers more protection against abrasion.
• More impermeable to moisture.

thick front side glass
Standard bifacial modules use thin, 2.0mm heat-strengthened glass to optimize cost and weight, JinkoSolar’s hail-resistant modules utilize thick 3.2mm tempered glass, withstanding strikes of up to 55mm (2.17”) hailstones.

Our modules pass the high-velocity hurricane (HVHZ) test, proving they can withstand hurricane-force winds. Test results for uplift (wind) on 2 XR100 IronRidge rails.

DUPONT™ TEDLAR®
We have a strategic relationship with DuPont™, the inventor of Kevlar, to incorporate its strong, durable Tedlar® material into our module backsheets. Tedlar® is the only material proven to last more than 30 years in the field. Because backsheet failures represent a large problem in the field, many customers buy from JinkoSolar due to the proven materials we use. Since 2011, DuPont™ has been conducting worldwide field surveys to inspect, assess, and understand the state of degradation of PV modules with varying ages, bill of materials, and in a variety of geographies and climates all over the world. This survey included:

13+ million panels
630+ solar fields
4 GW total potential power production

Backsheet Defect Rates DuPont™ Tedlar® polyvinyl fluoride (PVF) film-based backsheet maintains the lowest defect rates—even after 35 years in the field.

research & development

R&D provides a competitive edge and plays a critical role in the success and sustainability of a business. JinkoSolar invests significant resources in R&D, and the results speak for themselves–multiple world records in power and efficiency.
